Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Emerald & Jade Flowers

Happy New Year everyone!

If you’re like me, you might feel as though 2017 has been going on for a long time already, and when people ask you about Christmas you wonder why they’re asking you about something that happened so long ago! Funny how time can go so quickly, yet we are only in mid January…

My intention was always to write a blog post at the end of 2016… It was a great year for Emerald & Jade Flowers, and I am incredibly grateful for everyone who helped support my business, from all the amazing clients I had, friends and family who recommended me to everyone around them, the incredible suppliers I’ve met and worked with… Working in an office as a lawyer seems like a long, long time ago (which I guess in a way, it was). Becoming a Regional Finalist for The Wedding Industry Awards was an amazing cherry to go on top all of that!

Being self-employed, means I am lucky to work when and how I want, which is simply amazing especially when working around two little ones. My eldest turned 6 just before Christmas, and I am so grateful to be able to work around her and her brother, and I am also grateful for my clients who happily let me take them to consultations with me at times were I couldn’t leave them at home.

2016 was a very big year for me, and for Emerald & Jade Flowers. But I am equally excited about 2017. For the time being, I have decided to focus mainly on Wedding Flowers. As I work from home, I take on a limited amount of weddings each year, so that I can give my full attention to each couple for their big day. From the consultation until even after the big day, I remain available to all my clients for any queries they may have concerning their flowers and their wedding. 2017 is looking busy already but I do still have some free dates, so don’t hesitate to get in touch to book a consultation here.

I also have some exciting ideas to go alongside the flowers, so keep your eyes peeled for more info!

Most of all, 2017 will be the year I continue to explore ways to live a beautiful life. Which is also what Emerald & Jade Flowers is all about. In line with this, I am working on an incredible giveaway for Mothers’ Day, along with some amazing Bristol suppliers. Details will be announced via Instagram so make sure you follow me so you don’t miss out.

I am also working to host a variety of workshops and I am currently looking into various venue options in Bristol to host these. If you would like to take part in a workshop, or if you have a space that would feel would be perfect for such an event, please do get in touch 🙂

So here’s to another year filled with flowers, beauty, and a happy, mindful life ♥

What will you be focusing on in 2017?

[Photoshoot] Modern City Wedding with a Vintage Vibe

2016-01-20_0010.jpg

My first photoshoot was an amazing experience. Since setting up my own business, I had been eager to meet a photographer who would take some beautiful photos of my flowers, and organising a photoshoot seemed to be the perfect way to do so!

I met Charlotte from Bristol Contemporary Photography and Sarah from The Rosie Shaw Cake Company at the first wedding fayre I did. We instantly got on well and it wasn’t long before we began organising a photoshoot to showcase our work.

Kate from Heartfelt Vintage provided the dresses for the shoot, which are incredible, original vintage wedding dresses. She even had a photo of the original bride wearing one of the dresses! If you are a fan of vintage clothing, you absolutely must go and see Kate’s shop up in Clifton, it’s a true little gem and they even serve cake!

Rosie from Goldbrick House gave us access to the whole venue, including the top floor with gorgeous views across Bristol. I have always loved Goldbrick House, not only for its food and cocktails but also for the beautiful building it is, with its hidden corners and gorgeous staircases. It was perfect for our Modern Wedding with a Vintage Vibe theme 🙂

Emily from Able Mabel (who also made the red fascinator pictured below) and Claire from Claire Clark Make Up work closely with Kate from Heartfelt Vintage, and are experts in the Vintage look. When creating the three looks we were after from the 20s, 30s and 50s, they made each model look amazing and truly reflective of that era.

I was also extremely grateful that 3 of my friends agreed to model for us for the day, thank you girls, you look amazing!! (and of course thank you to Mike as well, the handsome groom!)
