Those who know me are most likely to know all about my love of beautiful, bright, bold colours. From the raspberry pink wall in our living room, the touch of neon accessories throughout our home to my favourite yellow top, bright colours are my favourite! They are such an instant pick-me-up and never fail to cheer me up on a grey day.
When it comes to weddings, this love for bright carries through. And I get really excited when a bride or groom tell me that they would love bright flowers for their wedding. However, when looking for inspiration online and in magazines, traditionally you are more likely too see more toned down weddings colour wise.
To help you with some wedding inspiration to inject beautiful colours into your day, I have included below five easy ways to inject some colour into your big day:
So simple, yet so effective. I always look at people’s shoes when I meet them, and if I’m wearing all black or a simple outfit, I like to wear nice shoes to add a little colour. I bought the above Kurt Geiger shoes were used for a photoshoot I did (the tables are my own from my living room… From Marks & Spencers!).
For my wedding, I wore these emerald green Irregular Choice beauties, which Barry had bought me years ago.
Ribbons are another beautiful, yet so simple way to add colour. Adding to chairs, trees, shepherds hooks, as a backdrop and of course to flowers, this is a great way to tie in your colour scheme into the big day.
3. The Dress
I seriously considered wearing a colourful wedding dress for my big day, but in the end I didn’t feel brave enough as I worried I wouldn’t obviously look like the bride if I did. I remember seeing incredible real weddings on various wedding blogs, where the bride wore an emerald green dress, and another a gorgeous yellow one. They’re definitely eye catching and make you stand out!
More recently, I worked on a shoot with Linda Thomas Eco Design, who creates stunning, unique dresses, very often with very striking colours, like the one above. The fabrics and colours she uses make for gorgeous, colourful creations!
Who said Wedding Cakes can’t be colourful?! Whether in the icing, with a cake topper or perhaps by adding berries and even fresh flowers, cakes can be made as colourful as you like and truly be a show stopper for your guests (especially when they taste as good as they look… mmm cake!).
5. And last but not least…FLOWERS!
Flowers are a great way to add an instant splash of colour into your big day. Whether you want to go all out with the-brighter-the-better, or you just want to add a small touch of bright colour with a distinctive flower in an otherwise more muted arrangement, the options are endless and this is what makes my job so much fun!
If you’re not 100% sure how best to incorporate colour into your big day, or what flowers might be available to match your preferred colours, get in touch and I can help.
